Invisalign® uses a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners that no one can tell you’re wearing. So you can smile more during treatment as well as after. Invisalign® is made with 3D computer imaging technology and has been proven effective.
You wear each set of aligners for about two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move — little by little, week by week — until they have straightened to the final position your doctor has prescribed. You’ll visit our practice about once every 6-10 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time typically lasts 15-24 months, varying with each case.
Not only are the aligners invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment. Plus, brushing and flossing are no problem. They are also comfortable, with no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. And no metal and wires usually means you spend less time in your doctor’s office getting adjustments. Invisalign also allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you start so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete.
During your initial consultation at our office, Dr. Falk will perform an oral evaluation and inform you as to whether Invisalign is right for you. We will also address any questions or concerns you may have.
Next, we will go over your total treatment fee, taking into account any orthodontic insurance benefit you may have. Our office will work with you to find a payment option that works best for you.
The next step is to take a full set of “before” diagnostic records. Initial records typically include digital x-rays, and photos of your teeth. After records are taken, we will perform a 3D digital scan of your teeth. The 3D scan will be instantly uploaded to Invisalign for treatment planning and development of your case.
A few weeks after we take your diagnostic records and perform your 3D scanning, we will set your appointment to receive your first set of aligners and attachments. You will wear them at least twenty hours each day for maximum effectiveness. You will return to us every six to ten weeks for fitting of your next sets of aligners.
Depending on your treatment plan, attachments will need to be placed on certain tooth surfaces. These attachments help to lock in your aligners tightly and assist in moving your teeth more efficiently. The attachments will be placed and removed as necessary.
Once your case is completed successfully, you must wear your retainers as instructed, typically for 8-10 weeks following final movements. Then at home & bed for the next 4 months and then finally to bed only. Retainers are custom made for you and will help to keep your teeth in their newly corrected positions.
